It’s Over in Five for ‘Angel’
Will someone give Joss Whedon a show and let him keep it, please?
First Buffy, now Angel. And these are great shows. Hopefully, someone will come along and give them the chance that they deserve.
Oh well, at least we have our Dark Revelations game to keep up Buffy-fied. 😎
Well, they’re all (going to be) on DVD, so even though you guys won’t be getting new episodes, you’ll be able to watch exactly the episodes you want to watch when you want to watch them. All shows end eventually (I’m not sure what to call daytime soaps). There’s only so much you can do with the “vampire with a soul” theme, and now Angel doesn’t even have the monopoly on that novelty. Would you rather have the show’s originality just become cliche and formulaic, or would you rather it get canceled while it is still relatively decent, before the fall?
I’d be willing to settle for a Firefly relaunch (which was nowhere near done with its themes and stories). Or have him write the New X-Men (I see Chuck Austin is next up a that bat — ugh).
An generally intelligent show hits the dust. I certainly never got close to seeing them all but what I saw was typically well-written and a good working balance between comedy and drama.
It used to be a couple of years ago that there was a good selection of science fiction (or relatedish) shows on television. Not all of them good ones, but a lot of them to pick from.
You’d think that now would be a great fertile time for science fiction.
